"We played the army shooter SOCOM. We played 5 on 5, me, Rio Ferdinand, Michael Carrick, John O'Shea, Wes Brown."
Former Manchester United footballer Wayne Rooney said that the Sony PSP portable console played an important role in the team's success. Rooney played for the club from 2004 to 2017, winning five Premier League titles, the FA Cup, three League Cups, four FA Community Shields, the Europa League and the Champions League.
In The Wayne Rooney Show podcast, discussing the release of EA Sports FC 26, Rooney shared his memories: "I used to play a lot of FIFA and Call of Duty, but I haven't played much lately. It was fun competing with YouTubers in Pro Clubs."
When asked about his skills in EA Sports FC, he jokingly replied: "Yeah, I'm cool, probably in the top 100 in the world," but then admitted: "Just kidding, I'm a normal, average player."
However, Rooney seriously noted that during his years at Manchester United, the team often played together on the PSP, and he believes this is one of the reasons for their success.
Honestly, the PSP helped us a lot. We played the army shooter SOCOM. We played 5 on 5, me, Rio Ferdinand, Michael Carrick, John O'Shea, Wes Brown. It improved our communication and tactics. We had to talk, coordinate actions, revive teammates if they were "killed." It was a key part of our success. Michael Carrick was cunning and calm, he could quietly throw a grenade. I was on the front lines, rushing straight into battle. It's amazing, but the PSP really played a huge role in our victories.
