Fortnite attracts not only honest players. Some try to make money on the game using all sorts of schemes.
Fortnite is not just a "battle royale", it is a game platform on the basis of which various projects are created. Epic Games has launched a program through which creators can earn money on their projects
As it turned out, some are trying to cheat the system. It recently became known that Epic Games filed a lawsuit against a couple of such entrepreneurs.
At least two developers tried to convince Epic Games that their maps were more popular than they actually were in order to get more money:
«According to Epic, players Idris Nahdi and Ayob Nasser allegedly created several fake accounts to upload various map options. They are accused of using more than 20,000 bots to artificially interact with their own projects. Real people also seemed to interact with these maps, but Epic claims that 88% to 99% of interactions are not real».
Now Epic Games wants to get the money back and hopes that the courts will prohibit both players from creating new accounts, as well as downloading and playing Fortnite in general.
Polygon also drew attention to the fact that Epic would like to apply these measures not only to the defendants, but also to their «heirs [and] successors», i.e. if the court agrees, their (current and future) children will also be prohibited from playing.
