Electronic Arts has once again intervened in the actions of players using the Portal mode, which has returned to Battlefield 6. And once again, this decision has caused discontent among some of the community.
The developers added Portal so that fans could create their own scenarios and maps. The tool turned out to be so simple that users quickly began building bot farms and recreating levels familiar not only to fans of the series.
Recently, the developers limited the ability to create servers for easy experience farming, and now fans trying to recreate maps from other shooters are under attack. Information has leaked online that one of the players who recreated the Shipment map from Call of Duty received a warning letter from the publisher. It stated that if he tries again, he may temporarily or permanently lose access to his account, games, and EA services.
The company limited itself to a warning only — the author can still use the game. But now creators of custom maps will have to give their works different names to avoid violations and not cause legal problems between EA and competitors in the shooter market.
