Fans of the "Alien" universe will have to be patient. Publisher Enad Global 7 has announced that Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 from Cold Iron Studios will not be released until the third quarter of 2026.
This isn't just a delay — the project has received additional funding. Enad Global 7 will invest $6.5 million, and the developers will add another $1.2 million of their own funds to bring the game up to the required level and meet player expectations.
The first installment, released in 2021, was a third-person cooperative shooter in the "Alien" universe. Despite the interesting idea, the game received mixed reviews — critics noted the monotony and untapped potential of the franchise.
The sequel should fix this. According to leaks from July 2024, the game will feature five character archetypes: Swift, Deadly, Silent, Commander, and Ranger. Each class will receive unique abilities and a set of weapons. An Annihilation mode will also be added, inspired by the classic Horde mode, but with more variability.
The increased budget and additional development time give hope that Cold Iron Studios will finally create the game that fans have been waiting for for many years.
