The developers have many new ideas.
Recently, the developers of Gothic 1 Remake presented a new video diary. The fourth episode is called "Story."
According to the developers, the game has become significantly larger in terms of story - approximately 20-25% of new content has been added:
We had a certain understanding of what we would like to change, what we would like to fix, what we would like to expand even further. And it wasn't something like "This is what my ideal version of Gothic looks like." During this discussion, we also set ourselves the task of finding even more new ideas, finding other problems in the game's story and solutions for them that could improve the game. We have somewhere around 20% or 25% of new content and side quests, and we are also expanding the original quests with new options. So, if we are talking about the story, then the game has become significantly larger.
In the original "Gothic," the game became more linear in the final chapters. In the remake, the authors want to make sure that "there is always a choice, another path."
The remake developers wanted to improve some "memorable moments" and correct logical errors in the story. The creator of the original game, Matthias Filler, is helping them with this, who "brought a lot of additional experience and knowledge throughout the series."
The developers explained their vision of orcs: "they are here [in the Mine Valley] not to live, spend time here, and create a civilization. They are trapped." The idea of "rough labor" is reflected in the design.
The orcs also have a full-fledged language - a professor-linguist from Germany was brought in to work on it.
The release of Gothic 1 Remake is scheduled for the 1st quarter of 2026, you can add the game to your wishlist Steam via the following link.
