The game will also receive an update on all platforms.
Team Cherry has announced the development of an updated version of Hollow Knight for Nintendo Switch 2. The edition, titled Hollow Knight – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition, will be released in 2026 and will be available for free to all owners of the original game on Nintendo Switch.
In anticipation of the release on Switch 2, Team Cherry plans to update all existing versions of the original Hollow Knight on current platforms, adding new features and fixing bugs. PC users can already try out many of these changes through public beta branches in Steam and GOG.
Among the new features in the beta version:
- Support for 21:9 and 16:10 resolutions
- The game now pauses in the inventory menu
- Transition to Unity Input System for extended controller support (the old system is available in settings)
- Added dithering effect and corresponding options to reduce color banding
- Improved smooth map panning
- Various minor fixes and improvements
