"Chainsaw Man - The Movie: Reze Arc" grossed over 227 million rubles in Russia
Despite the delay and the release of the digital version a few days after the start of the theatrical run, "Reze Arc" was able to attract viewers to cinemas.
The Russian release of the anime «Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc» is coming to an end. Since the official start of the прокате on December 4, more than 29 thousand screenings have taken place, and about 600 more remain in the schedule until the end of the year.
According to the EAIS, the dubbed version grossed 217.6 million rubles, and the version with subtitles added another 9.4 million. Taking into account pre-sales for the last days of December, the total box office will be about 228 million rubles.
In less than a month, the film has become one of the highest-grossing anime releases in the history of the Russian прокате. Almost half of the final box office came in the first week — from December 4 to 10, when the film earned 126 million rubles. In the second week, about 50 million more were added, in the third — about 20 million, after which the box office naturally declined.
Nevertheless, interest in the film persisted even after the release of the digital version, which took place on December 9. This small gap is due to the fact that the прокате in Japan started on September 19.
Despite the delay, anime fans actively supported the release in cinemas. In terms of total box office, «Reze Arc» significantly surpassed the results of «Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Mugen Train», which grossed about 132 million rubles in Russia, and became the second-best result in the history of domestic anime прокате after Hayao Miyazaki's film «The Boy and the Heron», which earned about 462 million rubles.
In the worldwide прокате, «Reze Arc» earned $155.7 million. This is a solid result, but the historical record still belongs to the «Demon Slayer» franchise: the full-length film «Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – To the Hashira Training» grossed over $774 million worldwide.
The full-length film экранизирует chapters 38–52 of Tatsuki Fujimoto's manga and serves as a plot bridge between the first season of the anime and the next arc. Earlier, studio MAPPA officially confirmed the production of the second season of «Chainsaw Man», which адаптирует the «International Assassins» arc. Thus, «Reze Arc» not only consolidated the success of the franchise in прокате, but also prepared the ground for its further development.
