DLSS 4.5 Doesn't Always Improve Graphics: Performance Issues on RTX 5070 Ti

The new version of NVIDIA's upscaling technology - DLSS 4.5, presented at CES 2025, does not always improve performance. Initial tests on the RTX 5070 Ti showed an FPS drop of 20-30% compared to DLSS 4.

In the Horizon series games, when using DLAA mode, the average frame rate decreased from 90 to 67 FPS. Similar problems were recorded in "quality", "balanced", and "performance" modes, and in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, the drop was about 30%.+

Although DLSS 4.5 improves visual clarity due to a more aggressive algorithm, users note graphical errors and glitches that were not present in DLSS 4. Due to the high load on the hardware, the benefits of an improved picture remain controversial and depend on the player's preferences.

Testers recommend using DLSS 4.5 with caution via NVIDIA App: stay on "custom" settings of the global profile and enable 4.5 only in special cases, such as in "performance" mode, where the FPS drop is less noticeable.
