The Expanse: Osiris Reborn Bets on Decisions and Squad - Mass Effect-Style Sci-Fi Shown at New Game+ Showcase
The space RPG market is expanding. In addition to Mass Effect 5 and the planned 2027 EXODUS, Owlcat Games is developing a project in The Expanse universe.
The game's structure resembles the original Mass Effect trilogy: players can expect a story-driven adventure with companions and many locations, including Ceres and Mars. Fans of the franchise will also visit the Eros station, familiar from the first seasons of the Amazon Prime Video series "The Expanse."
At the New Game+ Showcase, the developers once again showed The Expanse: Osiris Reborn, focusing on ground and air battles. Players will be able to customize their play style, choosing between a sniper, a bounty hunter, and an assault trooper.
The authors separately emphasized the choice system, which works on the principle of Mass Effect. The consequences of decisions will manifest later and will be irreversible - up to the death of companions, which makes the game designed for multiple playthroughs.
The developers promise well-developed companions with their own history and personal problems. Loyalty missions are provided for them, which can be skipped if desired. As a result, The Expanse: Osiris Reborn focuses on a "small crew" and a "small ship."
