The space simulator continues to be supported by the community.
The modification "Freelancer: Nomad Legacy" has recently been released. Work on the large-scale project lasted more than 15 years.
MatrixSektor describes the mod as an "updated Freelancer on steroids," offering players:
- A completely new game world, built on different principles: "So that you can not just fly, but explore and there is a balance between just \"economic centers\" and the \"periphery.\"
- An updated leveling system - now it is "possible and necessary" to change engines and generators. Changing equipment will affect gameplay and balance.
- "Pumped-up visuals" and returned features with animated ship elements: "All possible animations of guns and so on are attached. The bases are also animated and this is also part of the gameplay in missions."
- "Redrawn graphics of approximately a little of everything" - in 2K HD quality. Some things were drawn personally by MatrixSektor, and some were redrawn by neural networks, but without "neural slop" (the results of AI work were refined manually).
- Various bases, including "MEGABASES"
- All game content has been described and integrated into the game. Neural networks were used to re-voice NPCs.
The plot of "Freelancer: Nomad Legacy" is indirectly related to the original: "The plot is based on the adventures of a non-Trent, a namesake. About 50 years after the events of the original."
There will be a total of 13 missions (this is the original limit) and all of them have cutscenes:
The gameplay in the storyline is built on all modern principles. That is, it is an entertaining action movie that pushes the player forward. Although you will have to sweat in stealth missions :-) But I'm sure you can handle it!
The "Freelancer: Nomad Legacy" project has already been published online in open access.
