Forza Horizon 6 Prepares for a Breakthrough: Japan, Crossplay, and a Living Open World

Playground Games has published a detailed article confirming key details of Forza Horizon 6. The developers are preparing players for the release and call the new installment potentially pivotal for the series.

Forza Horizon 6 was officially presented at the beginning of the year, and the release will take place on May 19, 2026. Playground Games has collected and clarified the main features of the project.

The main star is Japan with recognizable locations, ideally suited for night races in neon. Players will visit the center of Tokyo with Shibuya Crossing, Ginza Avenue and Tokyo Tower, drive along roads inspired by the C1 loop, as well as along the mountain passes of Mt. Haruna and Bandai Azuma. The developers emphasize that this is not a "Japanese postcard", but a space for lovers of sharp turns.

Seasons will be returned to the game with more pronounced differences than in Mexico: landscapes, weather, vegetation and sound atmosphere change. At the same time, there should be snow all year round in the Alpine region of Japan.

Among the innovations are the Horizon Rush mode with obstacle courses, progress through identification bracelets and Horizon Legend status. The open world will become completely shared: without downloads, with live meetings of players, Time Attack Circuit, Car Meets and Drag Meets.

Garage personalization, The Estate construction, collaborative content creation in EventLab, Aftermarket Cars, car proximity radar and updated sound will appear. Forza Horizon 6 supports Xbox Play Anywhere, full crossplay and cross-saves on Xbox Series X|S, PC, PS5 and Steam.
