Resident Evil Requiem has undergone a technological review by Digital Foundry experts. According to their analysis, the RE Engine has undergone a major evolution, and the game sets new visual standards for the current generation of consoles.

The editors noted the exceptional detail of the main characters' models, Leon and Grace. Improved strand-by-strand hair rendering, photorealistic fabrics, individually shaded eyelashes, and even individual threads on jackets have been introduced. The real-time models look better than the CGI from the universe's films, such as Death Island.

RE Requiem demonstrates significant differences between platforms. On PS5 Pro, two modes are available: Quality Mode – 60 fps with full ray tracing and scaling from ~1080p to sharp 4K, and 120 fps without ray tracing with lower quality upscaling, reminiscent of AMD FSR1. Regular PS5 and Xbox Series X work like the 120 fps mode of PS5 Pro, but with a locked frame rate and without ray tracing. On Xbox Series S, there is a basic 720p resolution and simplified hair models.

From a gameplay perspective, the game combines different perspectives: segments with Grace are in first person with puzzles (as in RE7 and RE8), and stages with Leon have a classic "over the shoulder" camera with action.

Digital Foundry promised separate detailed tests on PC and Nintendo Switch 2.
