Samson - Not GTA: Developers Explain the Scope and Price of the Game

New materials for Samson were shown last week. Some players immediately called the project "a new GTA," but the developers decided to clarify the scope.

Liquid Swords studio head Christopher Sundberg emphasized in an interview that he is not offended by the comparisons, but it is important to understand the difference in scale.

I don't want to stop anyone from comparing Samson to any game, including GTA. But Samson is not GTA, and it's not a AAA project. It's a game with a medium budget, more focused on tension than scale, and its price is quite justified. One of the notable features is the storyline related to debt, which, however, will not become the main storyline of the game. It's a loop that constantly hangs over the player's head.

According to him, debt is not just an element of the story, but a constant pressure.

It's stress in a good way... everyone who has been chased by debt collectors knows this feeling. When you realize there is no way out, you have to plan game sessions to balance between missions to earn money and story missions.

The team was inspired by Hardspace: Shipbreaker (the theme of debt), Mad Max (cars, the car will be named Magnum Opus) and Batman: Arkham Asylum (combat system). The game will have eight types of missions, more than 30 arenas, some with transport.

The authors call Samson a short and dense action game without trying to become a sandbox in the spirit of Grand Theft Auto. The campaign is designed for approximately 10 hours, with repeated playthroughs up to 25 hours. The price is $25.
