The studio has published a final memo for gamers ahead of the release of its new project. We have gathered the key launch information: from the exact server opening time to important nuances involving paid subscriptions on consoles.
Release time and server launch
The science-fiction extraction shooter Marathon by Bungie launches on March 5, 2026. The servers will open at 21:00 Moscow time (10:00 PST). The developers expect a large influx of players and warn about possible login queues.
For those who placed a pre-order, preloading is already available on all platforms. An important nuance: participants of the recent test (Server Slam) will have to delete the old build and download the client again, since the release version runs on a different architecture.
Platforms and requirements
The game is releasing on PC (via Steam), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S . The project supports full cross-play and cross-progression from day one, allowing players to transfer their saves between any devices .
Console players should take technical limitations into account. Access to multiplayer will require an active PS Plus subscription on PlayStation 5 or Xbox Game Pass Core on Xbox Series.
Release version content
At launch, players will have access to six factions and six Runner classes (including the Thief class), as well as 28 weapon types with a crafting and modification system. Of the three starting locations, only two will be open on the first day. The third zone, Outpost, will become available on March 6 for players who have reached level 12.
Ranked mode and the high-level endgame location Cryo Archive (an abandoned ship in orbit around Tau Ceti) will appear in the game only in the second half of March, along with the full launch of the first season. Rewards for watching Twitch streams and bonuses for participating in the beta test will start being distributed on release day, but receiving them may take up to 48 hours.

To celebrate the launch, Bungie has prepared unique cosmetic items (weapon charms) depending on where you play.
