Configurations will mainly cost from $1.3 thousand.
The global personal computer industry is undergoing a noticeable transformation amid ongoing supply problems. According to the analytical company Omdia, manufacturers are increasingly considering alternative strategies to maintain profitability - and one of them is to abandon the budget segment in favor of more expensive devices.
In recent months, the market has faced rising prices both in retail and at cost. The shortage of key components - including RAM, processors and video cards - forces companies to revise their priorities. As a result, according to the report, the main blow will fall on the PC segment costing up to $500, which includes educational and basic user devices.
Analysts note that due to low margins and limited resource allocation, the budget segment may shrink by 35%. Small manufacturers will be especially vulnerable, as it will be more difficult for them to compete in conditions of scarcity and rising costs.
Against this background, sales are expected to grow in the more expensive range - from $1.3 thousand to $1.5 thousand. Companies prefer to focus on products with higher profits, which may lead to the gradual disappearance of affordable PCs in the coming years.
Giants such as ASUS and Acer may also face difficulties in the budget segment, as maintaining it becomes economically unprofitable.
