Special "Punisher: The Last Kill" to be shown in Russian cinemas
Russian viewers will have an exclusive opportunity to see Frank Castle's story on the big screen.
Cinemaplex reported that Marvel's special "Punisher: The Last Kill" will be available in Russian cinemas starting May 16. This indicates that some networks plan to show the project as a standalone release.
Abroad, its premiere will take place on May 12 exclusively on Disney+, with no theatrical release planned. Thus, Russian viewers will actually get a unique opportunity to watch the new Marvel project on the big screen.
Jon Bernthal once again played the main role, returning as Frank Castle after "Daredevil: Born Again". The special's runtime will be about an hour. This is the longest Special Presentation in Marvel Studios' history, allowing it to be considered almost a feature film.
The script for the project was written by Bernthal himself along with director Reinaldo Marcus Green. Marvel Television head Brad Winderbaum previously stated that the special combines large-scale action with a more emotional and dark story about the Punisher.
It is assumed that "The Last Kill" will be a link between the second season of "Daredevil: Born Again", the finale of which took place on May 6, and the film "Spider-Man: A New Day", which premieres on July 31.
