BioShock Creator Explains Why Judas Is Taking So Long
BioShock fans have been waiting for Judas for a long time - more than three years have passed since the project's announcement. Series creator Ken Levine said that the delay is not due to graphics or technology, but to an attempt to create one of the most complex narrative systems in games.
In an interview with IGN, Levine explained that the team is developing a modular story system from scratch that generates and combines storylines in real time. According to the developer, the game should flexibly react even to the smallest player actions.
To do this, the studio had to do "titanic organic work," from cataloging digital assets to programming hundreds of micro-scenarios and writing a story capable of dynamically adapting to what is happening.
At the same time, Judas will remain true to the ideas of Levine's previous games. The project is being created as a story-driven shooter with an emphasis on atmospheric environments and vivid characters.
In the interview, the developer spoke about the "most difficult challenges" in the past tense. Because of this, players assume that the key systems of the game are ready, and development is gradually moving towards the finale.
