The developers want players to enjoy every hour spent in the game world.

ArenaNet studio has shared the first details about Guild Wars 3. In a statement published on the official website, studio head Colin Johanson spoke about the key development principles for the project, which was previously called "a modern evolution of MMOs".

One of the main announcements was the confirmation that Guild Wars 3 will not require a monthly subscription. According to Johanson, one of the fundamental ideas of the series has always been the ability to buy the game once and play it at one's own pace. For the same reason, the new MMORPG does not plan to introduce battle passes, which have become the norm today.

ArenaNet also intends to abandon any "pay-to-win" elements. Although the game will feature microtransactions, the developers promise that they will be limited to cosmetic items, account services, and various convenient time-saving features. At the same time, users who invest real money will not be able to gain an advantage over those who prefer to achieve progress solely through gameplay.

The team pays special attention to respecting players' time. According to Johanson, many modern MMORPGs require huge time commitments and often turn into "a second job" for users. In Guild Wars 3, the developers want to avoid such an approach. ArenaNet's goal is to ensure that players enjoy every hour spent in the game world, regardless of whether they can dedicate dozens of hours a week to the project or only log in occasionally. The studio promises to reveal more detailed information about the relevant game systems later.
