Extraction Shooter Gray Zone Warfare Sells 1.5 Million Copies Worldwide and Receives Major PvP Update
The game was released in early access in April 2024.
MADFINGER studio announced that its tactical extraction shooter Gray Zone Warfare has surpassed 1.5 million copies sold. In honor of this achievement, the studio released update 0.4.5.0, focused on PvP rework, and also launched Steam discounts and a Twitch Drops campaign.
According to the developers, update 0.4, released at the end of March, was an important milestone for the project. It was the biggest rework of the game since its Early Access release and significantly changed key gameplay mechanics. Now, the developers continue to focus on developing the PvP component, which is considered one of the main reasons to explore the dangerous island of Lamang.
One of the most notable changes in patch 0.4.5.0 is the expansion of Conflict Zones — their radius has been increased from 300 to 400 meters. Thanks to this, attacking players will no longer reveal their approximate location so quickly at the beginning of an encounter, which will allow for more effective ambushes and tactical advantages.
The respawn system has also been seriously reworked. Now, winners of PvP battles get more time to clear the area and collect loot from defeated opponents before they can return to the conflict zone.
In addition, the developers have increased the recapture time for Combat Outposts. After a change of ownership, factions will have to wait 30 minutes before attempting to regain control of the outpost. This should put an end to constant changes of ownership of the same point in a short period of time.
The update also introduced long-requested community features. Players can now use Task Sharing — a co-op quest system that allows them to share missions with squad members and complete side activities together.
In addition to gameplay changes, the patch adds NVIDIA DLSS 4.5 support and includes numerous bug fixes and improvements to almost all game systems.
