PS6 Cost of Production Increased by $200 - Insider

According to insider Kepler_L2, the cost of production for PlayStation 6 has increased by $200 and is approaching $1000, which could make the console the first in history with a retail price around this mark.

Insider Kepler_L2 reported that the cost of production for PlayStation 6 has increased by approximately $200 and is now approaching the $1000 mark. In his opinion, there is no point for Sony to delay the console's launch, as further increases in memory and storage prices will only worsen the situation.

A few months ago, Kepler_L2 estimated the production cost of PS6 to be around $760. A similar estimate, $743, was provided by insider Moore's Law Is Dead. At that time, it was assumed that Sony would be able to release the console at a price of around $699, temporarily selling it at a loss.

Now, according to Kepler_L2, the most likely option is a digital version of PS6 for $999. If the forecast proves true, this will be the first time a major home console enters the market with a price close to $1000.

The insider also believes that the problem is not limited to Sony. According to his data, Microsoft is facing similar cost increases while working on Project Helix, and future price increases for PS5 and Switch 2 are also not ruled out.
