Pre-order for the new Warhammer: The Old World core set opens on July fourth

Games Workshop has announced what items will be available for pre-order starting July 4, 2026. Fans of the Warhammer: The Old World tabletop game will be able to purchase a new core set.

It includes 54 miniatures: a Daemon Steed Champion, a Battle Standard Champion, 16 Chaos Warriors, four Chaos Knights, a Gatekeeper on a Cathayan War-Horse, a Gatekeeper with a Battle Standard, 20 Jade Warriors, five Jade Lancers, a Cathayan Grand Cannon with an Ogre and three assistants.

The set also includes a rulebook, dice, templates, rulers, and more. The revised edition of the Warhammer: The Old World rulebook, included in the new core set, will be available for separate purchase.

"Battle March: General's Handbook" will become available. This book contains rules for smaller format games, six narrative scenarios, army list examples, and a description of the battle for Axe-Bitten Pass. The "Common Magic Items" and "Schools of Magic" reference card sets will return.

As part of the "Made to Order" promotion, dragon whelp miniatures, three mercenary Ogres with two-handed weapons, three Ogres with one-handed weapons and a captain overseeing his troops, two Orc Raiders, and two baggage carts will be available for purchase.

Additionally, the "Fires of Betrayal" omnibus, dedicated to the Warhammer: The Horus Heresy universe, will go on sale. It includes James Swallow's novella "Garro: Knight of Grey" and "The Age of Ruin" — an anthology of eight short stories focusing on events immediately following Horus's defeat at the hands of the Emperor.

These stories include: John French – "Angels of an Older Age" and "Ex Libris", Dan Abnett – "Shards", Nick Kyme – "Fulgrim", Guy Haley – "Darkness After Dawn", Chris Wraight – "Homecoming", Gav Thorpe – "System Purge", Aaron Dembski-Bowden – "The Rotten Lord of the Imperium".
