Specialists studied the Steam chart and tried to estimate the possible revenue boundaries.

It recently became known that Valve managed to sell all released Steam Machines. The company did not disclose specific sales figures.

Analysts from Boiling Steam decided to estimate Valve's sales and revenue. They used the Steam sales chart as a benchmark. It includes "products," so the list contains games, add-ons, as well as Steam Deck and Steam Machine.

Positions in this chart are determined by revenue volume. Obviously, "expensive hardware" requires significantly fewer purchases to rank high on the chart compared to cheap games.

Boiling Steam believes that Valve sells between 12,000 and 15,000 devices per week. Based on this, they decided to calculate the company's approximate revenue.

Analysts performed mathematical calculations and estimated Counter-Strike's weekly revenue at $19-20 million, and Palworld's at $7-9 million. Steam Machine was in second place on the chart (at the time of the calculations), meaning Valve's revenue was approximately between these two values.

Overall, the estimates for Steam Machine sales and weekly revenue are as follows:

  • Lower bound – 8,700 units / $10 million
  • Middle bound – 12,100 units / $14 million
  • Upper bound – 15,600 units / $18 million

In a recent interview, a Valve representative explained that the company is not interested in sales figures – it will measure the success of Steam Machine differently.
