After "Quantumania"'s Failure: Kathryn Newton Still Hopes for "Ant-Man 4"
Marvel discussed a sequel after "Quantumania"'s release but never put the project into production.
Kathryn Newton, who played Cassie Lang in "Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania," still hopes for a continuation of the series. According to the actress, the fate of the fourth film largely depends on fan interest, which Marvel listens to when choosing future projects.
"I think it's not up to me, but ultimately up to the fans. I've always talked about the power of community: if you really want something, it will happen no matter what. If you love a project, it will definitely come back. We constantly see reboots and sequels coming out 20 years later. If fans want something, we listen to them."
The series' prospects remain uncertain after "Quantumania." The film was released in 2023, received 46% positive reviews on Rotten Tomatoes, and grossed approximately $476 million worldwide. Among the three "Ant-Man" installments, it received the lowest critical ratings, but audiences received the film more warmly – its rating is 81% after more than 10 thousand reviews.
After the premiere, producer Stephen Broussard said that he had discussed a potential "Ant-Man 4" with director Peyton Reed and Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige. Since then, the studio has not announced a sequel, but Cassie Lang and Scott Lang, played by Paul Rudd, will return in "Avengers: Doctor Doom," which will be released on December 18, 2026.
