22.9 Million People Have Fought for Democracy - Sony Shares Helldivers 2 Statistics

After Helldivers 2 appeared in the PlayStation Plus catalog, the game's audience grew even more.

More than 22.9 million people have played Helldivers 2 on PS5, Xbox Series, and PC since its release. This was announced by Sony Interactive Entertainment, calling the Arrowhead Game Studios project one of the most popular games on PlayStation 5.

The data is current as of August 9, 2026, and accounts for the number of players, not copies sold. Three days later, on August 12, Helldivers 2 was added to the PlayStation Plus catalog for Extra and Premium subscribers, so users who joined from there are not yet included in the statistics.

Currently, Helldivers 2 is running the horror story arc "Devoid of Liberty," where mutated Illuminati organisms have appeared near the mysterious Void. The game also recently received the paid "Castellan’s Creed" pack with weapons, armor, and vehicle customization inspired by Warhammer 40,000.

Meanwhile, Sony is preparing a full-length film adaptation of Helldivers. Justin Lin, known for the "Fast & Furious" film series, will direct, and the lead actor has not yet been chosen. Jason Momoa previously declined to participate in the project. The premiere will take place on November 10, 2027.
