Nikita Buyanov Showed a GPS Navigator in Escape from Tarkov, Pointing the Way to the Exit from the Location
EFT is gradually becoming a more accessible game.
In Escape from Tarkov, players have to navigate raids on their own. The game doesn't have a convenient map, like in Arc Raiders, that would allow real-time tracking of the character's movement. Instead, you have to memorize landmarks and then make your way to the exits.
Not all community members approve of this creative decision. After many years, the developers heard them and are preparing a useful tool. Recently, Battlestate Games boss Nikita Buyanov published a new teaser on social media — a first look at the “simplified GPS functionality.”
In the comments, while communicating with fans, Buyanov clarified that this would be an item that needs to be placed in a special character slot.
Some players fear that this will negatively affect the balance in Escape from Tarkov. A user under the nickname afraid_au noted that there is a certain “charm” in the need to understand maps and evacuation points. Even if a player is not very skilled, they can improve over time by gaining new knowledge:
That was the beauty of Escape from Tarkov: even if you lacked in-game skill, you could still win through knowledge accumulated over time. For example, I didn't know the maps, and I wasn't good with weapons — I'm Australian, after all. What I liked most about EFT was learning and seeing myself improve.
