The businessman's activities attracted the attention of law enforcement.
A 34-year-old entrepreneur from New York (USA) is accused of organizing a fraudulent scheme.
It is alleged that Isaac Lapidus could have transported counterfeit Nintendo goods totaling more than $2 million. He was arrested "on charges of trademark counterfeiting and conspiracy." If convicted, he could face up to 15 years in prison.
Nintendo identified the counterfeit when it was inspecting goods returned from Amazon.
According to prosecutors, from 2018 until the raid this month, the entrepreneur allegedly sold more than 200,000 counterfeit docking stations for the Nintendo Switch, 10,000 adapters, and over 15,000 accessories for the Pokemon Go Plus+.
The fakes had incorrect product codes, serial numbers, and also misspelled Japanese characters.
Lapidus pleaded not guilty in court, and is currently "released under supervision without bail."
