Ubisoft is in no hurry to share details about the adaptation of Watch Dogs for the big screen, but the lead actor has slightly lifted the veil of secrecy.
The film company New Regency completed filming the movie based on Watch Dogs back in September 2024, as reported by Ubisoft itself. However, since then, no new details about the project have emerged. Only recently, the lead actor Tom Blyth, while participating in the press tour for his other film "Plain Clothes", briefly commented on the status of the adaptation.
In an interview with ScreenRant, the actor confirmed that an additional round of filming recently took place. According to him, work on Watch Dogs is ongoing, and the team is doing everything possible to achieve the best result.
"Yeah, it's gonna be cool. We just reshot the whole thing and made it even better. Sophie Wilde is just amazing. It's not the game. It's its own thing. They've done an amazing job of creating... I don't want to give away too much. I'm trying to choose my words, but they've done an amazing job of turning the game into a film. It feels like a film. It doesn't feel like they've tried to copy the game and put it on screen. It feels like its own thing, like a jumping-off point to create a whole world."
Mathieu Turi ("The Deep Dark") is directing the film, and Cristy LeBlanc ("Oxygen") and Victoria Bata ("Lessons in Chemistry") worked on the script. The cast also includes Sophie Wilde ("Talk to Me") and Markella Kavenagh ("The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power").
Plot details and the release date are still being kept secret. Given the recent reshoots, the film's premiere will likely not take place until mid- or late 2026.
