Bloomberg reports that the company has commissioned suppliers to produce up to 25 million Nintendo Switch 2 units by the end of March 2026. If the goal is achieved, it will be one of the best starts for any console in history, surpassing internal forecasts and analysts' expectations.
Previously, analysts predicted sales of about 17.6 million devices by March 2026, but internal estimates show that Nintendo is ready to sell about 20 million units. The remainder, several million consoles, will carry over into the next fiscal year, ensuring availability on the market.
The company's strategy relies on the successful launch of the Switch 2, which has already broken global records. In the US, 2.4 million devices were sold in the first three months, exceeding the PS4's record of 2.2 million and becoming the fastest-selling console in the country's history. According to Circana, this also contributed to the growth of video game spending in the US by 11% to $4.7 billion in August 2025.
Globally, the console demonstrated impressive results: 3.5 million sold in the first four days, over 5 million by the end of the month, 5.82 million by June 30, 2025. By the end of July, more than 6 million devices had been sold, and August confirmed the Switch 2's status as the fastest-selling console on the market.
