Enthusiasts continue to develop a fan port of Project Zomboid for Android, adding network game support and fixing a number of technical errors.
The fan adaptation of Project Zomboid for Android, released in September, has received a major update - it now has a multiplayer mode. Previously, the mobile version only supported single-player, but the latest build added the ability to play together and improved compatibility with devices running MIUI (Xiaomi, Redmi and POCO smartphones), where touch controls did not work previously.
You can download the updated build on GitHub, but multiplayer is disabled in the port by default. This is done to avoid possible legal claims from The Indie Stone, the developers of the original game.
To activate network functions, users will need version 42.12 of Project Zomboid for Linux from Steam or GOG. The Linux build has an android folder containing two files - libRakNet64.so and libZNetNoSteam64.so. They need to be added to the ZIP archive, and then in the settings of the mobile version, specify the path to this archive in the Native Libraries line.
Those who prefer single player do not need to download any additional files - it starts without them.
The developer of the fan port clarified that the update does not change the content of the original and is intended solely for enthusiasts who want to experience Project Zomboid in a mobile format.
