Obsidian Entertainment has presented a video about The Outer Worlds 2, showcasing key changes in gameplay, design, and narrative. Game Director Brandon Adler and Creative Director Leonard Boyarsky discussed how the team is making the game larger, deeper, and more dynamic compared to the first installment.
The developers clarified that the new decision system has been significantly expanded: the player's actions now directly affect the plot, environment, and behavior of allies, who, in case of conflicting interests, can even attack the main character. Special attention is paid to factions — each will have its own radio station with songs, advertisements, and satirical broadcasts. Radio channels will change depending on the player's actions, reflecting propaganda, alliances, and wars.
Discussing the creative vision, Adler and Boyarsky emphasized that The Outer Worlds 2 retains Obsidian's signature style — irony, social satire, and criticism of capitalism. The video shows gameplay fragments with improved battles, expanded locations, and an updated dialogue system called Moon Man Menu, created for more natural communication between characters.
The Outer Worlds 2 is set to release on October 29, 2025, on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, including Xbox Game Pass.
