Artificial intelligence is expected to allow the company to pay off its debt faster.
Business Insider, citing anonymous sources at EA, reports that the company is literally forcing its employees to use artificial intelligence "in almost everything."
EA's management allegedly began promoting AI about a year ago — long before the deal was announced. AI tools are recommended for generating code in game programming, creating concept art, and even for advising middle managers on how to communicate with subordinates, including promotion topics. To do this, the company requires staff to take several training courses: from accelerating work with AI to using generative models as a "thinking partner", as stated in internal documents obtained by Business Insider.
Among the available tools is the internal chatbot ReefGPT. However, employees complain about AI failures: it generates erroneous code and other inaccuracies, which takes additional time for real employees to correct.
One of the employees laid off this year — a former member of the QA team at Respawn Entertainment — said that he was laid off because AI is now able to analyze and summarize feedback from playtesters. This, he said, was a likely cause of the layoffs, which affected about 100 people at Respawn.
