Developers continue to gradually improve the sandbox game.
The authors of Garry's Mod presented the November development diary and talked about a major update. The project is becoming more technological, and long-standing problems are gradually being solved.
A solution has been found to improve NPC interaction with weapons:
From the very beginning of Garry's Mod, there was a long-standing problem: the support for weapons used by NPCs was insufficient, especially when NPCs used weapons they never used in Half-Life 2. This update finally solves these problems.
- NPCs will not assume the T-pose when attempting to use non-standard weapons, such as "Metro Cops" (Civil Protection) using RPGs or AR2s.
- Alliance soldiers can not only use all built-in weapons without problems, but also run and chase the player without weapons. Citizens no longer stand up to shoot while crouching.
- Now more NPCs can use weapons, which "provides more opportunities than ever before."
Faceposer (for adjusting facial expressions) received several minor improvements with the ability to randomize or clear only a specific category of sliders:
New water effects have been introduced — water rendering functions from new games on the Source Engine have been added:
[The update] includes flow maps, lighting maps, and the ability to reflect a three-dimensional skybox. This improves compatibility with games that can be mounted, and also allows cartographers to use these new features in their maps.
