The quality of the new installment in the franchise has upset many fans.
The original city-building simulator Cities Skylines is loved by many, but something went wrong with the sequel. Since its release in 2023, players have been actively criticizing the project for optimization issues and bugs.
Colossal Order has released a series of patches and additional content, but reviews for Cities Skylines 2 are still "mixed," and there remains some dissatisfaction with the quality of the project.
Recently, Paradox Interactive announced that a decision had been made to transfer the project to Iceflake Studios.
Starting in 2026, a new team will be responsible for the development of Cities Skylines 2:
After more than a decade of successful collaboration on numerous projects that we are both immensely proud of, Paradox Interactive and Colossal Order have decided to part ways and develop independently. Iceflake Studios will take over the development of Cities: Skylines 2 in early 2026. The decision was made thoughtfully and in the best interests of both teams to ensure the most successful future possible for the Cities: Skylines franchise.
Colossal Order intends to release several updates before the end of the current year — bicycles are scheduled to be added to the game on November 19.
