This time, Ubisoft is collaborating with the FX channel.
FX has officially ordered a TV series based on the Far Cry franchise from Ubisoft. The project is conceived as an anthology, in which each season will tell a self-contained story in a new setting and with a new cast — similar to how the location and characters change in the games themselves.
Noah Hawley, the author of "Fargo" and the recent "Alien: Earth", as well as Rob McElhenney, the co-creator of the sitcom "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia", are responsible for the adaptation. According to Deadline, McElhenney is likely to play the lead role in at least the first season.
«What I love about Far Cry is that it is an anthological nature. Each game is a variation on a theme, as is each season of "Fargo". To create a large-scale action show that can change from year to year and at the same time invariably explore human nature through this complex, chaotic optics, is a dream come true. I am glad to work with Rob and bring our shared bold and ambitious vision to the screen».
President of FX Entertainment Nick Grad reminded that the channel has released more than thirty seasons of projects from Hawley and Mack, and expressed confidence that their new work will be «original, exciting and insanely fascinating».
«Ubisoft has been incredibly generous in entrusting us with one of the most iconic video game worlds. And all this time, my FX family continues to support me with their unwavering faith and support»
No details about which game or setting the first season will be based on, as well as information about the premiere date, have been disclosed yet.
