PlayStation Plus Subscribers May Lose Access to Games in Their Library Due to Licensing Peculiarities
The system does not allow gamers to have multiple licenses for the same game, which can lead to problems.
Sony regularly provides PlayStation Plus subscribers with selections of various games. Projects from the monthly selection can be added to the library and played later — they will be available as long as the subscription is active.
However, under certain conditions, licenses may "crumble." A user with the nickname shannonator96, who lost access to Mass Effect Legendary Edition, was able to verify this.
The collection could be obtained several years ago, when the player still had a PS Plus subscription:
A few years later, when I no longer had an active PS Plus subscription, I subscribed to EA Play, which also includes Mass Effect Legendary Edition. I downloaded and played this game through EA Play, and now I decided to download and play it again with a PlayStation Plus subscription, but I couldn't.
After communicating with Sony PlayStation support, he received the following response:
You can only have one digital license for a game at any given time.
In shannonator96's case, this means that the Mass Effect license from EA Play removed the previous license obtained through PS Plus. The player urges others to be careful:
The same thing can easily happen with other games that are available in several subscriptions at once, so I strongly recommend not using any subscriptions other than PlayStation Plus. If you want to play games from EA Play, it's better to just buy them so you don't run into such problems.
