The actress who plays Ciri admitted that she considered leaving the series, but decided to stay and continue Henry Cavill's work.
Freya Allan admitted that she considered leaving the series "The Witcher" after Henry Cavill left the project. The actress said this in an interview with NME. According to Allan, she "seriously thought about it for a long time," but eventually decided to stay.
"The third season was difficult for everyone. I cried because I wanted to finish the show with the actor who played my adoptive father. For the first time, I wondered what life outside of 'The Witcher' might look like, and then the main actor leaves..."
Replacing the main character was not easy for the team. Allan admitted that at first it was "very strange" to see Liam Hemsworth on set instead of Cavill.
"Fans love to hate something, but we welcomed him with open arms. Although, I admit, I still saw Henry's face when Ciri thought about Geralt - because that's the Geralt I grew up with."
After Cavill's departure, the actress felt that she should take on his role in defending scenes close to Andrzej Sapkowski's original books.
"I really wanted to give the fans what they were waiting for. I saw how Henry, incredibly devoted to the books, was trying to include certain phrases. When he left, I felt that I should continue this work."
For this reason, Allan was surprised when the fourth season was criticized for scenes that were completely true to the original source. She even considered creating an anonymous account on Reddit to argue with critics, but eventually abandoned the idea.
"What surprised me most in the fourth season was how many people criticized things taken directly from the books."
Summing up and talking about the fifth season, which is due to be released in 2026, Freya noted that this season squeezed everything out of her, but she feels incredible satisfaction.
Filming for the fifth season of "The Witcher" from Netflix has already been completed, but the exact release date has not yet been revealed.
