The sequel to Lords of the Fallen will be much more brutal, with developers not holding back in demonstrating violence.
CI Games intends to significantly increase the level of brutality in Lords of the Fallen 2 and make dismemberment a full-fledged part of the combat system. In an interview with IGN, the studio's creative strategist, Ryan Hill, confirmed that in the game, it will be possible to sever any visible limb of an enemy.
"This is a game made by adults for adults, and we didn't want to reduce the level of violence or the intensity of this experience."
According to Hill, the decision was made after communicating with the community. The developers directly asked the players how far they should go with the level of violence, and received a clear answer. The community demanded that they not hold back, and the studio decided to go "all-in." The team sees brutality as a way to enhance the emotional reward from victories in difficult battles — a key element of the "soulslike" genre.
The developers note that the dynamic dismemberment system should make each battle more expressive. Instead of the standard death animation, players will be able to literally tear opponents apart, which, according to the idea, enhances the feeling of reward for overcoming the challenge. It is not yet specified how exactly the mechanics will affect the tactical side of battles.
Lords of the Fallen 2 is a direct sequel to the 2023 reboot. The project is expected to be released in 2026, but the developers are not yet ready to announce an exact date.
