Players are demanding that Sony deal with the wave of "neuro-slop" and tighten moderation of the digital store.
PlayStation users have noticed the game Astrofix Galaxy Quest in the digital store, which they believe is a clone of Astro Bot created using generative AI.
The description of Astrofix Galaxy Quest states that the player must help "a little repair bot with a big heart" restore balance to the Universe by collecting fragments of the Cosmic Core and traveling through miniature planets. The description and visual style suspiciously resemble the original Astro Bot, recognized as the best game of 2024.
The project developer is listed as Witenova Studio, registered in Estonia. In addition to Astrofix, the company's catalog includes the horror game Wednesday 13th, in which the features of Wednesday Addams from the Netflix series are guessed, and the name itself clearly refers to Friday the 13th: The Game, as well as SyndiCAT: Stray Mafia — a hybrid combining elements of Stray, Cyberpunk 2077, and Mafia.
This is only part of the projects announced by Witenova this year. The studio's list also includes other "games" that frankly copy popular titles. At the same time, none of these projects has yet been released, but they are all scheduled for release in 2026 — unless Sony intervenes and removes them from the PlayStation Store.
On Reddit, users are sharing other examples of "neuro-slop" found in the PlayStation Store and demanding stricter measures from Sony. The company has already tried to block publishers releasing low-quality projects, but the problem is systemic — new games constantly appear in place of the deleted ones.
Players call what is happening a sign of an "epidemic of digital junk" and fear that without full moderation, the PlayStation Store showcase risks turning into a dump of generative content.
