Working on "Stranger Things" and the creative approach of the Duffer brothers had a significant impact on Shawn Levy.

The director of the film "Star Wars: Starfighter," Shawn Levy, in a conversation with The Hollywood Reporter, shared that while creating the picture, he was inspired by the approach used in the series "Stranger Things." In that project, Levy served as an executive producer and directed several episodes.

According to the director, his key goal is to combine "epicness and intimacy," spectacle and emotional expressiveness through a focus on characters and their relationships. It is this balance, in his opinion, that became one of the strengths of "Stranger Things."

Levy noted that working on the series taught him not to succumb to the pressure of expectations inevitable when working with a major franchise, and to focus on stories built around characters. He emphasized that "Starfighter" will combine a large-scale adventure with a "human" center of the narrative, which should make the film more cohesive and accessible to a wide audience.

“I think if I can balance the epic and the intimate the way the Duffer brothers did in ‘Stranger Things,’ I can create an original new adventure in the ‘Star Wars’ universe that will truly appeal to both fans and the general audience.”

The premiere of the film "Star Wars: Starfighter" is scheduled for May 28, 2027. Back in December, Shawn Levy confirmed that filming of the picture was completed and the project had moved into the post-production stage. Plot details are still being kept secret, but it is known that this will be a standalone story in the "Star Wars" universe, rather than part of a new trilogy.

The central roles in the film will be performed by Ryan Gosling and young actor Flynn Gray. Such a duo also reflects the influence of "Stranger Things," a project that consciously connected different generations of viewers and actors. In addition to them, the cast includes Matt Smith, Mia Goth, Aaron Pierre, Simon Bird, Jamael Westman, Daniel Ings, and Amy Adams.
