Lewd Gacha Browndust2 Authors Decide Not to Anger Players and Abandon Censorship
Neowiz will now release two versions of the game: one with the original creative vision of the creators and one adapted for different markets.
BrownDust2 has experienced a real crisis: the developers initially announced radical changes to character designs, cutscenes, and content due to claims of "objectifying women." However, after community outrage-review bombing and demands for refunds for pre-orders-the studio suddenly changed its mind about censoring the game.
The developers initially confirmed the removal of the Slap Slap Pop mini-game (a rhythm game involving slapping characters' buttocks), justifying it with the words: "This is not something that should be done to a woman." They also promised to change existing costumes and cutscenes for several characters. The changes were allegedly forced due to pressure from platforms (including Steam) and regional regulators.
In an emergency stream on January 12, the head of development personally apologized to the community and announced a complete rollback of changes dictated by censorship and marketplaces (likely referring to Steam).
Now, two versions of BrownDust2 will be available to players: a censored version for countries where it is mandated by law, and the original.
