Developers Edmund McMillen and Tyler Glaiel stated that the game exceeded their wildest expectations.
In an interview with IGN, developers Edmund McMillen and Tyler Glaiel confirmed that their tactical roguelike about cats, Mewgenics, exceeded all sales expectations in less than a day after release. According to the authors, the game took only three hours to fully recoup the development costs.
The launch of Mewgenics was successful: initial sales exceeded the figures for any add-on for The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth. In just 5.5 hours, about 152,000 copies were sold. At the same time, the online presence continues to grow — the peak number of simultaneous players is already approaching 66,000, and, as the developers note, this figure will surely be even higher on the weekend.
