This week, three games from the Resident Evil series will be released on Nintendo Switch 2, including the new ports of Resident Evil 7: Biohazard and Resident Evil Village. The first Western reviews confirm that these are full-fledged versions, not simplified adaptations.
Reviewers particularly praise Resident Evil 7 Gold Edition. According to them, it is a benchmark survival horror: first-person perspective, dark corridors of the Baker mansion, conservation of ammunition, and a constant sense of danger. The graphics are close to the PlayStation and Xbox One versions, with stable 60 FPS and short loading times. All add-ons are included, and the game has "matured like fine wine."
Resident Evil Village received more restrained but positive reviews. Capcom developed the ideas from RE7, adding dynamic gameplay and diverse locations: the village, Lady Dimitrescu's castle, the Beneviento house, Heisenberg's factory, and Moreau's swamps. The Gold Edition includes Shadows of Rose, Mercenaries, and a third-person mode. The Switch version has a nuance: in portable mode, FPS drops are sometimes noticeable in open spaces, but the game runs smoothly on a TV.
