The "Harry Potter" reboot has attracted significant attention from viewers.
The first trailer for the series "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone" set a record for HBO and HBO Max. In the first 48 hours, the video garnered over 277 million views, surpassing the previous maximum by more than double.
It is not reported which project previously held the record, but it is highly likely that it is the trailer for "House of the Dragon" or "Game of Thrones," which traditionally showed the largest reach.
The video was released on March 26 and became the first full look at the return to Hogwarts. The teaser showed Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter, Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger, and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley.
There you can also see adult characters — John Lithgow as Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as McGonagall, Nick Frost as Hagrid, and Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape.
However, high interest does not mean unequivocal approval. The discussion of the trailer online turned out to be heterogeneous: some of the audience positively assessed the return of the franchise, while others criticized the visual style, casting decisions, and the very idea of the reboot.
Nevertheless, HBO plans to develop the series over several years and screen the entire book series, dedicating a separate season to each novel. The premiere of the first season is scheduled for December 2026.
