Is GTA VI being developed without crunch? Take-Two responds to employee accusations

Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick denied reports that Rockstar Games employees are allegedly facing crunch during the development of Grand Theft Auto VI. According to him, such claims are untrue, and overwork is not part of the studio's current processes.

In an interview, Zelnick compared the situation to his college days:

It's like when I was in college. I never stayed up all night because I always did my homework on time. You do your work – and you don't have to work all night.

He also reiterated Rockstar's mission to create the “perfect” gaming experience:

It is Rockstar's leadership that engages people in this extraordinary mission – to create something perfect. I think people share that.

Commenting on the delays of Grand Theft Auto VI, Zelnick noted that delays are sometimes necessary, and crunch is allegedly not part of the company's modern policy.

The statement by the Take-Two CEO came after reports on Glassdoor, where people identifying themselves as Rockstar employees wrote about increased workload, long working hours, and unpaid overtime. One comment even suggested that tasks that previously took several months would be completed in a much shorter timeframe.
