Elden Ring Demake Launched on PlayStation 1, Gameplay Shown
The experience of working on the PS1 version of Minecraft proved very useful to the developer.
Recently, a modder known as 2009aero presented an Elden Ring demake. This isn't about concept videos with characteristic PSX graphics made by some enthusiasts, but a full-fledged simplified version of the game, made in the style of projects from the first PlayStation era:
The PlayStation was released in 1994 — almost three decades before Elden Ring. With a processor of only 34 MHz, 2 MB of RAM, and 1 MB of video memory, it doesn't have anywhere near the power needed for a modern AAA project like Elden Ring, running on hardware literally thousands of times more powerful.
But the modder found a way to play Elden Ring on PlayStation 1. A few weeks ago, 2009aero made a version of Minecraft for PS1. To do this, he had to understand various technical nuances, and now he thought: why not use the Minecraft engine as a "base" for a new project?
As a result, from a technical point of view, the Elden Ring demake is "based" on Minecraft. The modder used simplified models for his project, but fans of the original will easily recognize these images:
As a result, 2009aero was indeed able to assemble an Elden Ring demake, which successfully launched on a regular PlayStation 1 (this is not emulation, everything runs on the original hardware). The modder did not publish the project's source code.
The video is available at the following link.
