Nvidia stops disclosing GeForce sales amid AI boom
Nvidia has published its financial report for the first quarter of fiscal year 2027, reporting record revenue of $81 billion. However, the company has also changed its reporting structure - it no longer discloses separate data on GeForce graphics card sales.
Previously, Nvidia's financial reports disclosed sales of graphics processors, including GeForce for consumers and RTX Pro for the professional segment, which were listed as separate line items in financial reports. Now, Nvidia divides its business into just two areas: Data Center and Edge Computing.
Data Center includes cloud services, artificial intelligence, and supercomputing, and has become the company's main source of revenue. The Edge Computing category now includes PCs, workstations, and consoles, as well as the automotive sector, robotics, and telecommunications. Due to this consolidation, it is no longer possible to track individual metrics for the gaming segment.
According to observers, this reflects Nvidia's shift in focus towards AI, which brings the company its main profit. Against this backdrop, there are speculations about the declining importance of the GeForce line.
Additionally, the market points to rising prices due to memory shortages, the possible cancellation of RTX 5000 Super models, and even the risk of no new consumer graphics cards this year. Rumor has it that Nvidia is redirecting the production of chips and memory towards AI accelerators, which bring significantly higher margins than gaming GPUs.
