The Witcher 3: Songs of the Past DLC will be the beginning of a "new adventure" - DLC in advanced development
CD Projekt RED sees great potential in the upcoming DLC
CD Projekt RED recently presented its financial report. During the presentation, co-CEO Michal Nowakowski spoke a little about the status of the Songs of the Past (or "Ballads of the Past") expansion for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.
According to the manager, the third expansion for The Witcher 3, which was previously mentioned among the company's unannounced projects, is currently in an advanced stage of development.
CDPR believes that this DLC can be an entry point into The Witcher universe for newcomers:
Geralt's return after more than ten years will be a great adventure and a journey into the past before we pass the baton to Ciri in the upcoming The Witcher 4 [...] We see great potential in Songs of the Past as a starting point for getting acquainted with The Witcher universe, as well as the beginning of a new adventure.
Michal Nowakowski reminded that the Songs of the Past expansion for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is being developed in collaboration with Fool’s Theory studio. The DLC does not yet have a specific release date, the release window is 2027, and details are planned to be shared in the summer of this year.
The developers also warned that they are raising the system requirements for The Witcher 3.
