The Witcher 3 Director Responds to Complaints About Dropping Windows 10 Support - The Game May Work, But CDPR Guarantees Nothing
Some players still use Windows 10 and are very unhappy with the new system requirements.
A new expansion called Songs of the Past was announced for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Along with this, CD Projekt RED warned players that the PC system requirements would be increased.
The developers clarified that the game will now require the modern operating system Windows 11 to run. This sparked a heated discussion in The Witcher 3 community — some players still use Windows 10 (although Microsoft itself ended its support last year).
The Director of User Experience issued a statement regarding the discontinuation of Windows 10 support for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.
According to the specialist, this means that the studio will no longer test games on this operating system — Windows 10 is no longer used within the company.
Nevertheless, he admits that The Witcher 3 will launch on Windows 10, but CD Projekt RED cannot guarantee anything:
In short: this change [in system requirements] does not mean that the game will not run on Windows 10. It means that we cannot guarantee its operation. Our goal is not to take something away from you, but to provide the best possible experience in the highest quality way.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt director clarified that players will have the option to roll back to an earlier version of the game (1.32, designated as Classic) and added that "when the time comes, a rollback to the current version 4.04 will also be available."
