First Look at Clutch - an Open-World Racing Game from Ex-Forza Horizon Developers
Developers want to offer gamers a story-driven racing game.
Recently, Maverick Games studio presented the first footage of the Clutch project. The new game is positioned as a story-driven open-world racing game.
Maverick Games was founded by ex-Forza Horizon designer Mike Brown.
In Clutch, players will explore the story of relatives competing in the fictional R1K racing event. The game world also features an underground racing scene called Midnight:
When the protagonist gets into trouble and needs a fixer, the line between these two worlds begins to blur. The script is written by Jamie Brittain, co-creator of the British series Skins.
Clutch developers plan to present a full trailer for their project at the upcoming Summer Game Fest 2026 — players will be able to see the locations where the game's events will unfold, as well as learn about the story and some of the actors.
Currently, Clutch does not have an exact release date, but the release window is known — 2027, the game is planned to be released on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
