According to the company, the promotion is timed to prepare players for the launch of the new GTA Online update.

Owners of digital versions of Grand Theft Auto V for last-generation consoles will soon be able to upgrade to the current edition of the game for free.

Starting tomorrow, users who purchased the digital version of GTA V for PlayStation 4 or Xbox One will be able to upgrade to the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions at no additional cost. This upgrade typically cost players around $30, so the offer will save money for those who are still using the old edition on modern consoles.

PC owners will also receive a free upgrade.

Rockstar noted that the updated versions of GTA V and GTA Online for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S offer significantly improved graphics and performance, convenient transfer of story mode progress and online characters, as well as exclusive content.
